The City of Kent is in need of someone who is looking for a challenging career in a stimulating and productive environment to fill a Civil Engineering Designer 2 position in our Public Works Department. The preferred candidate will be well-versed in working on a team, be self-motivated and have strong experience in both CAD and civil engineering design. Work responsibilities include the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of roadways, bridges, water, sewer, storm water and various other infrastructure projects. Qualifications for this position include an associate degree in civil engineering design or three (3) years of relevant college-level coursework.
This is a full-time, benefited, and overtime exempt position that is not represented by a union.
This position is open until filled, with an initial review of applications occurring two weeks after opening. The selection process for this position will consist of an Autocad 3D proficiency test and up to two (2) interviews. Dates for these steps have not yet been determined, but candidates with the desired qualifications will be informed once scheduling is confirmed.
SALARY:
$8,573.00- 10,433.00 per month, depending on experience

SKILLS FOR THE POSITION MAY BE GAINED THROUGH EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, RELEVANT JOB EXPERIENCE or a COMBINATION, SUCH AS:
Education: Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Design or three (3) years of college-level course work in engineering, surveying, mathematics, design, and drafting; and
Experience: Eight (8) years of experience utilizing current computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) equipment in a municipal engineering environment.
Or: In place of the above requirements, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience that would demonstrate the individual's knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties listed above.
LICENSES AND OTHER INFORMATION:

Valid Washington driver's license, or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment

Must successfully pass the City's pre-employment driver's records check, successfully complete the City's Defensive Driving Course, and maintain and excellent driving record
