Position Summary:

The Building Safety Inspector's typical duties include performing multi-disciplined inspections of new and existing residential buildings and other City projects under local and federal regulations, ensuring proper code compliance and safe conditions. This position will also evaluate properties and construction zones to facilitate the safety of both life and property.
Job Requirements:
- Associate or Technical degree required.
- High school diploma, along with related professional experience, may be considered instead of a degree.
- Two years of construction industry and code enforcement experience are required.
- ICC Residential Building Inspector Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within twelve months of employment required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in using essential business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and essential office equipment.
- Knowledge of the applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations regarding the building industry;
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and workmanship standards governing the installation and modification of plumbing, gas, electrical and mechanical systems; knowledge of current developments in the building
industry.
