Position Summary

The City of Wentzville is seeking candidates interested in joining our Public Works team. The Streets Maintenance Technician's typical duties include operating various equipment, vehicles, and power tools to perform skilled work to build, repair, or maintain streets, catch basins, storm drains, culverts, ditches and public works projects. Incumbents in this position will maintain and repair asphalt surfaces, pour and assist in finishing concrete and masonry work, participate in traffic panting and control and complete minor equipment repairs and maintenance. Participation in 24-hour winter storm removal schedules is required.

Job Requirements

• Skilled in the tasks pertaining to the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets, rights-of-way, stormwater systems, and public works projects.
• A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.
• Job-relevant certification/license, vocational/technical program completion, or completion of apprenticeship required.
• Valid Class B CDL required within 180 days of employment. Must have a valid driver's license upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in equipment operation.
• Knowledge of tools, methods, materials, equipment, and terminology used in the construction and maintenance of street and traffic control facilities.
• Knowledge of concrete placement and finishing methods, slump, and strength testing with related training preferred.
• Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
