Department Statement:
Colgate University’s Chapel House is a retreat center and sanctuary that welcomes students, faculty, staff, and visitors from all parts of the world and all religious traditions or none. This space provides a home for quiet reflection, religious and spiritual discovery, and the exploration of nature.
The successful candidate will join the Chapel House team and assist in supporting the operations, logistics and administration for upcoming programming, as well as the general hospitality of Chapel House.
Accountabilities:
Responsibilities include:
- sleeping in the Chapel House when guests are present; prepared to wake up to respond to the needs or emergencies of guests
- occasional cooking, cleaning and set up for meals
- occasionally monitor the front desk
- assist the Chapel House staff in the daily operation of the House
- adhere to a specific weekly schedule coordinated by Chapel House Manager and Cook
- may be responsible for the timely and efficient execution of special projects, additional activities, committees and other work unique to Chapel House, as assigned
- knowledge of CPR and ability to respond effectively to emergency medical situations involving elderly guests is important
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis

Requires high school diploma or equivalent

This appointment is expected to run from May 15th, 2024 – August 23rd, 2024.Scheduled work hours: 30-40 hours per week.
