Job Summary

New ownership team is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AutoCAD / Microvellum Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with experience in designing and drafting custom woodwork and cabinetry using AutoCAD and Microvellum software. The successful candidate will work closely with our design and production teams to create detailed, accurate drawings, manage project specifications, and ensure high-quality production outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting and Design: Utilize AutoCAD and Microvellum to create detailed 2D and 3D drawings for custom woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, and architectural woodwork projects based on customer specifications, sketches, and blueprints.
• Project Management Support: Work with project managers, designers, and fabricators to ensure that design plans meet client requirements and are optimized for production efficiency.
• Technical Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documents, cut lists, material take-offs, and specifications required for production and installation of custom wood products.
• Collaboration: Communicate effectively with design, production, and installation teams to ensure the successful execution of projects from concept to completion.
• Custom Solutions: Design custom woodwork solutions tailored to specific client needs, ensuring design feasibility and adherence to quality standards.
• Quality Control: Review and revise drawings based on feedback from production teams, ensuring all designs are precise, accurate, and aligned with project specifications.
• Software Management: Stay current with updates and best practices in AutoCAD and Microvellum to ensure optimal use of software tools in daily operations.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience using AutoCAD and Microvellum for designing custom woodwork, cabinetry, or millwork. Experience in the woodworking or construction industry is a plus.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and designing detailed architectural plans, layouts, and custom woodworking drawings.
• Expertise in Microvellum software, including design, drafting, project management, and cutting optimization for cabinetry and woodworking projects.
• Strong knowledge of woodworking terminology, construction methods, and materials.
• Ability to create detailed shop drawings, including 2D/3D models, material lists, and cut sheets.
• Experience with CNC programming or preparing designs for CNC machining is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address design challenges and provide creative solutions.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with design teams, clients, and production staff.
• Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, especially when working on complex designs and custom woodworking projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Degree or certification in architecture, drafting, design, or a related field is preferred.
• CNC Programming Experience: Familiarity with CNC software or the ability to prepare files for CNC cutting and machining is a plus.
• Woodworking Knowledge: Understanding of materials, joinery, and woodworking techniques is highly advantageous.
• Project Management: Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously and working under deadlines.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate potential issues and propose effective solutions before they arise.

Job Specifics

• Type: Full time in person (no less than 40 hours per week).
• Schedule: 8 hour shift + OT as required.
• Pay: $25+ per hour (commensurate with experience).
