Department of Chemistry: Art Krieg Professorship

The Department of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for the Art Krieg Professorship, which will recognize a distinguished scientist who is a leader in their field of research and an innovator in building cross-disciplinary connections between chemistry, engineering, and other related disciplines. The Art Krieg Professor will hold a full-time tenured position at Washington University at the rank of Professor, with a primary appointment in Chemistry and a joint appointment in one of the departments in the McKelvey School of Engineering.

We invite applicants in all areas of chemistry, broadly defined, and especially encourage applications from individuals whose research intersects multiple disciplines within or beyond chemistry. Potential research topics of interest include, but are in no way limited to: AI-enabled drug discovery or protein design, synthetic biology or metabolic engineering, quantum materials, targeted drug delivery, and tools for biomarker discovery and analysis. The Krieg Professor is expected to maintain an internationally recognized and highly-visible research program, participate in the educational mission of the university through classroom teaching and mentoring of researchers, and perform committee work and other university service.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in chemistry, engineering, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment, as well as an outstanding teaching, service, research, and publication record commensurate with tenure at this rank.
